I swear we sounded like a dang Verizon commercial. We must have asked that questions at least 30 times and said “Babe?… BABE? Are you still there? Wait, what?!” another 30 times. We were able to get in a few sentences and a little conversation but not much before the call would either drop, go choppy or begin lagging again. It was just one of those days.
It wasn’t easy but thankfully we were able to laugh through the frustration. Grateful we were able to get it “I love you” and “just ## more days”. The only thing that made it better was that we both knew soon we would no longer have this issue. Soon we won’t have to rely on wifi, phones or any other technology. Soon we’ll wake up next to each other and fall asleep together. Soon he’ll be the first thing I see in the morning and last voice I hear at night. So very soon this separation will be far behind us and we won’t have to encounter issues like today.
We are almost there. We are so close I can almost taste, see, feel it. Just another #DeploymentStruggle but the countdown is getting smaller and we are getting stronger 💪🏻
I’m so happy to read how excited you are. I’ve never been a soldier but I have worked away from home. I know that he’s just as excited as you are.
I imagine that you’re all he thinks about.

Yes, I am sure you do know the feeling! It can be so frustrating at times but he is finally home and we could not be any happier. So grateful to be able to talk face to face now. Such a small thing but it means the world.

Love it sis! Being in a LDR is hard work but knowing God’s promises will come to pass is so beautiful.

Yes, that is so true. We have held tightly to his promise. Would not have be able to make it through without His peace and guidance. Thankful to have my husband back for a little bit.

I’m glad this is the very first thing I clicked on in your blog before anything else. It’s a bit ironic in a way. My husband and I just had this conversation last night that brought me to tears, and I’m relieved someone else is writing about the true scenarios, even as little as the phone calls. I’m just elated to see that another couple is really “holding on through the storm”.
Thank you.

Hiii!!!!! Welcome to my blog!!!! Sorry it has taken me so long to rely back. You most definitely are NOT alone in experiences like this. One of my main goals with the blog was to be open and honest about all my emotions, thoughts and experiences. My hope was that by doing that, others would find strength and comfort in knowing they are not the only ones! So you have no idea how much your comment meant to me. I look forward to reading your blog!!!

Girl, I have been where you have with my own husband and let me tell you – that day will come and it will be beautiful. Calendars were my best friend and truly the distance did strengthen us for what our life had in store but it is HARD in the moment. Much love from a girl who’s been there. ❤ ❤ ❤

Thank you so much for reaching out to me and for all the encouragement!!! Really means a lot from someone who has been through it. That first hug truly made it all worth it. He has only been back for about a week but I am already seeing how our time apart made us stronger as well. Thank you for your kind words!!!

I’m reading all your posts backwards, but I am currently at this point! I’ve decided to stop trying to FaceTime! After many frustrating attempts to have a good enough connection to see his face, only for it to disappear in a moment, I decided that I wanted to just save our time and stick with phone calls! But I sure do miss seeing his face! We also cling tightly to those countdowns!
I am so glad you guys are reunited! It must feel SO nice!
Thanks for sharing!

Right?! Its one of the most frustrating things!!! I think we only facetious 3 times throughout the whole deployment. Phone calls were better but still not perfect. So glad you were able to relate. Sometimes I feel ridiculous for writing about the littlest of things. I hope you have nothing but clear calls and soon will get to visit him ❤️

Ah! Thank you! We actually got a whole two minutes of clear FaceTime yesterday. Of course FaceTime only wants to cooperate when I have no makeup on and messy hair, never when I’m sitting by the phone with my hair and makeup done! It may seem trivial and minuscule to some, but to us that’s what connects us to our guys! I’m wishing you two the best of times now that your guy is home!
